You're Never Too Old for the Dog to Eat Your Homework

Patron: I need a book for my book club--Walker Percy? They said it would be up here.

Librarian: Walker Percys are right over here.

Patron: The Movie Goer? Isn't that a strange name?

Librarian: We don't seem to have a book by that title.

Patron: Oh, goodie. You've let me off the hook.

Librarian: I'm sorry I couldn't help you.

Patron: You helped me plenty. Now I don't have to read it.

Sometimes it's a relief, isn't it!

Movies! Would that be Cliff notes for book clubs?

Not very good ones, I'm afraid, although we've been watching the PBS Masterpiece series, The Complete Jane Austen, using the BBC versions. I feel so relieved to know that I at least know SOME of the stories now...the characters and plotlines at any rate.

I confess. I am a lazy reader.

I confess that there have been a few book club books that I would have been happy to use this excuse on!
